Civic-minded themes

Perhaps we could do something nice as a class for the community. A couple of thoughts on this theme include:

--sponsoring a day or even an hour on public radio. There would be some mention of this on air, such as, "this hour of public radio sponsored by the Norfolk High Class of 1979 in honor of their 30th reunion."

--making a contribution of cash from the class to a local charity similar to "Bread for the City" or Habitat for Humanity."

--taking shifts in a soup kitchen as an act of service in honor of the class.

I think that is a great idea! Perhaps someone would like to volunteer to coordinate this?

Today I called Norfolk's local public radio station, KXNE-FM, 89.3. I described the concept, was transferred to the station manager's phone, and ... left a voice mail. Not sure how this will pan out, but I will keep working the idea and post any updates here.

Looks like we've been booted uphill. The local station manager forwarded my voice mail to the station manager in Lincoln. I attempted to call her today and... left a voice mail! That's 2 for 2: batting 1000 so far.
